| This grant provides money to build specific math enrichment opportunities that correlate to the grade two through five math curriculum and are consistent with the NCTM Standards (Standards for teaching math established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics). All teachers in these grades will receive a resource packet of specific enrichment activities that could be assigned to students who have mastered the basics of a particular unit and who would be challenged by a broader application of these skills. |

| This follow-up grant will provide continued funds for an After-school Theater Drama Workshop that has been offered this year at the Concord Middle School. The workshop incorporates improvisation, theater games, and drama-based learning. In the coming school year, the facilitator of this program, Karimah Moreland, will work with Middle School classroom teachers to use drama as a learning device within other curriculum areas. |

| This grant will provide funding for the implementation of an eight station Microcomputer Based Physics Laboratory, including hardware (equipment and sensors), software, and curricular materials. Concord-Carlisle eleventh and twelfth grade students will utilize this new technology to learn physical concepts in a hands-on, active learning environment. |

| Funds from this grant will help to re-open the Concord-Carlisle FM Radio station WIQH. The high school radio station will provide a state-of -the-art broadcasting experience for high school students. WIQH will also provide a communication link between the school and the community. The group engineering this Radio Initiative plans to integrate the station with the many subject areas and various activities that take place at the high school. The group will also work toward broad-based support for continuing to provide this valuable resource. |

| The funds for this grant will be used to enlist the expertise of Nutrition Consultant Lisa Pearl to review the K-12 health education curriculum for its consistency with the current research on the prevention of eating disorders. Educational materials on body image, nutrition, self-esteem, media literacy, and conflict resolution skills will be incorporated into health lessons at age appropriate levels. |

| This grant award will help to launch a summer enrichment program in Concord for students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth grade. A variety of courses will be available over the summer, in two-week sessions, providing opportunities for students to advance their knowledge in a given subject or to explore new areas.
