All Kindergarten and first grades. This program entails the design, development, and implementation of a modular program of study, including written material and physical experiments to provide a "minds-on" science curriculum. $1,700
CONFLICT RESOLUTION: Social Competency
All Alcott, Thoreau and Willard selected K-5th grade classes. The project, patterned after a program offered by the Stone Center at Wellesley College, will 1) develop a classroom/school community which is cooperative, caring and respectful, 2) develop and enhance communication, social skills, and problem solving skills, and 3) enable students to develop self-control and take responsibility for their own behavior. $5,600
ACADEMIC CHALLENGE AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (ACE)
A second year grant. First and second grade students at Thoreau and Willard will have an opportunity to participate in before-school courses taught by parent volunteers in math, foreign language, chess, etc. $2,650

First and second grade. The grant will provide curriculum development, materials acquisition, and parent training to introduce art history to the students. $2,350
KEYBOARDING SKILLS
Fourth grade, Willard. This grant provides curriculum and sets of 24 computerized keyboards for regular lessons. It will serve as a pilot program for the entire Concord school system. $1,000
STORIES OF CHILDHOOD: Memories of Growing Up and Living in Concord
Middle School. This is a community-based project involving the student community with elderly Concordians to publish a book about the history of people's lives in Concord. It includes reading, writing, publishing, interviewing skills and community service. $2,753
CROSS-CULTURAL SOCIAL STUDIES TELECOMMUNICATIONS
7th grade Peabody. This grant supports computer technology enabling the teacher to change the method of teaching the seventh grade cultural studies curriculum $2,800
SURFING THE INTERNET: Introducing Direct World Wide Web Access
CCHS. The grant provides technology for the first system-wide access to the Internet and the World Wide Web providing access to a broad range of information to expand student research capabilities. Students will build a "home page" for the Town of Concord on the World Wide Web. Internet access will also be available in all Concord schools. $10,063
CONCORD-CARLISLE HIGH SCHOOL GOSPEL CHOIR
The grant provides a stipend for a part-time choir director to lead the choir and to develop its repertoire and concert schedule. $1,500
MAKING MUSIC THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
CCHS. This grant provides technology that will enable students to integrate computerized music technology into the teaching of academic music and performance curricula. It offers enrichment opportunities for student composition and arranging. $5,000
