GRANTS AWARDED 1994-1995

In June of 1994, six grants have been awarded for a total of $18,868. Grants were given for projects at 2 elementary schools, the middle school and the high school. Grant recipients include Concord teachers and school staff.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY INITIATIVE

Grant Amount: $1,540

Project Leader: David Prifti, CCHS art teacher

Students/Schools: Advanced photography students at CCHS

This grant provides technology to support the digital imaging pilot program being integrated into the art program for advanced photography students.

ENVIRONET GROUND OZONE MONITORING AND ENVIROQUEST TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROJECT

Grant Amount: $5155

Project Leader: Barbara Boudrot, CMS Science Department Chair

Students/Schools: 7th graders at CMS Peabody Building

This grant provides materials; equipment and teacher training needed to implement an environmental science education unit for 7th graders.

TECHNOLOGY AND MULTI-MEDIA IN A PROFICIENCY BASED FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Grant Amount: $4,673

Project Leaders: Robin Neuman, CMS Foreign Language Department Chair, and Marilyn Skarnes, Kate Keating, and Ines Rodrigues-Digon, teachers in the department

Students/Schools:                         All French and Spanish students at CMS

This grant provides equipment to support the expansion of foreign language curriculum to increase opportunities for students to listen and speak the language.

ACADEMIC CHALLENGE AND ENRICHMENT (ACE) PROGRAM

Grant Amount: $3,800

Project Leaders: Barbara Lehn and Glen Peterson, 1st & 2nd grade teachers

Students/Schools: Offered to 1st and 2nd graders at Willard School

This grant supports curriculum development and supplies for development of a pilot program of enrichment courses to be offered to students before and after school hours.

ALCOTT SCHOOL COMPOSTING PROGRAM

Grant Amount: $600

Project Leader: Bob Fardy Science and Social Studies Coordinator for the elementary schools

Students/Schools: Students of the Alcott School

This grant supports development of curriculum for inclusion in science units related to composting and recycling.

ALCOTT SCHOOL PUBLISHING CENTER

Grant Amount: $3,100

Project Leaders: Irene Hannigan, Language Arts Specialist and Carole, 4th grade teacher

Students/Schools: All students grades K - 5 at Alcott School

Equipment and staff support for the creation of a publishing center available to all classroom teachers and publication of 3 literary magazines during the school year featuring quality student writing.
